A north-east boxing club is on to a winner after securing a knock out sponsorship deal with MSIS.

The Inverurie based company, which provides specialist cleaning and waste management products and services onshore and offshore has donated tracksuits for every boxer, which will help the club go the extra distance as it embarks on the summer season.

Byron Boxing Club has produced a number of Scottish champions since it was established in 2010 and has provided youngsters with the opportunity to compete in local and national boxing tournaments, contributing to the community and supporting its youth.

Account manager at MSIS, Alex Cain has been coaching young boxers for over 15 years, passing on his wealth of experience. He said: “Boxing is a disciplined sport, and over the years we have seen some of these young boxers grow both in their sporting ability and confidence. We’ve had several amateur champions learn the ropes at Byron Boxing Club and we are hopeful that the team will continue this success and do MSIS proud in the forthcoming season.

“Our aim is to provide a safe and secure environment for people of all skill levels to further their interest in boxing, to improve fitness and to engage with the local community. It also encourages youngsters to socialise and make new friends.

“It’s extremely difficult to keep local clubs like this alive and we often have to rely on our own fund-raising efforts and sponsorship to ensure we achieve our goals.

“The support from MSIS has been a great boost for the club and it will hopefully help us to attract new members and continue to generate future boxing champions.”

Byron Boxing Club has over 50 members, aged between 8 and 60 who train at the Northfield Community Centre three times week.

Ian McPherson, managing director of MSIS said:  “We’re extremely proud to be supporting Byron Boxing Club. Alex and his fellow coaches have inspired a whole new generation of boxing enthusiasts and we hope this donation will help the club reach further success, in Aberdeen and across the country.

“At MSIS, we regularly support community initiatives, especially when it promotes an active lifestyle. The club has come a long way in a short space of time, which is a testament to Alex and the team of volunteers who have made it all possible.”

Since its launch in 1998, MSIS has grown to become an independent and trusted adviser to the global oil and gas industry, offering an increasing range of specialist skills, equipment and services. With a range of specialist cleaning and waste management products and services through to environmental management solutions, MSIS has a proven track record, combined with market leading levels of best practice in confined space entry and cleaning of toxic and non-hazardous waste.
